How did China succeed in alleviating poverty?

 

China has shocked the world by declaring itself poverty-free this year. It is a wonder how such a large country with a population of over 1.4 billion has liberated its people from poverty.

To achieve this, they have taken some steps that were innovative in many ways. Let's see what method they use to get unimaginable success.

In the final year of its poverty alleviation program, China lifted 100 million people out of poverty. Xinjiang, Yunnan, Ningxia, Sichuan, Guangxi and Kansu have declared their respective districts poverty-free after completing the last eight years of poverty alleviation activities on time.

Chinese President and General Secretary of the Communist Party Xi Jinping recently said that the success of the poverty alleviation program promptly and China's significant victory have overwhelmed the world. 

He said this at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Polite Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC.

From the 17th Congress of the CPC, the Communist Party has been eradicating poverty through various innovative and creative methods and the war against poverty has been declared the largest in human history.

As a result of continuous efforts over the past eight years, all rural people in China have been lifted out of poverty.

In 2019, China's National Bureau of Statistics set the poverty line at 3,218 yuan or more than ০ 490 USD per capita in a year. In 2010, the line was 2,300 yuan.

Behind China's success in alleviating poverty lies the development of industrialization in rural agricultural systems, which is now playing an important role.

Statistics from China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development show that 632 poverty-stricken counties have undertaken more than one million (one million) industrial projects and built 300,000 industrial bases. 

Each county has 2-3 leading industries that have improved the fortunes of 98 per cent of the poor. From poverty alleviation workshops to industrial cooperatives, rural areas are gradually improving their environment and facilities.

 Rural industrialization includes kiwi for cultivation, vegetable cultivation, beekeeping, local handicraft cooperatives, cultivation of any special type of locally grown fruits or vegetables, farm building, cattle rearing etc.

There are 56 ethnic groups in China. Among beekeeping ethnic groups in remote areas who have found a way out of poverty using their cultural heritage. An example of this is the success of the ‘Miao’ nation.

China's Miao people have used their cultural heritage to alleviate poverty. This happened in Rongshui, an autonomoistrict of the Miao people in the Guangxi Chuang Autonomous Region of southern China. 

Rongshui in the Guangxi Chuang Autonomous Region is the ‘Miao’ Autonomous District.

Rongshui is one of the 20 poorest districts in the region. Here 26.53 per cent of the people are below the poverty line. People from 13 ethnic groups live here. Their own culture is extremely rich. 

Using this cultural heritage, they have been able to lift their diaper centout of poverty. 30,000 local villagers have been added to China's recent list of poverty alleviation successes.

 On November 20, they officially freed themselves from poverty.

The embroidery of the ‘Miao’ nation is very traditional. They have used this embroidery skill to attract tourists. They have created various embroidered materials which are in great demand among the tourists.

People of ‘Dong’ ethnic group live here near this area. Their Mid-Autumn festival is very famous. 

Many tourists come here on the occasion of this Mid-autumn festival. A tourist area has been developed here centring on this festival.

In this way, using their Mid-Autumn heritage of different nations, the whole area has been developed as a tourist area. This has given a new impetus to the economy of centring
The development of the tourism industry has been one of the major components of poverty alleviation in various autonomous regions.

 Numerous domestic and foreign tourists visit China every year. The local government has organized various tour packages for foreign as well as domestic tourists.

Cultural tourism has been encouraged in historically, culturally famous areas. Various scenic spots have been built around the natural beauty of the place. The tourism industry has been developed in those places.

BFF (Boao Forum for Asia) Chairman and former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon praised China's success in alleviating poverty.

"China is aThe tourism example of how a government committed to fulfilling its promises can improve people's living standSecretary-Generalomic development," he said.

The Boao Forum for Asia cited China's success in its 2020 report on poverty reduction. 

BFA Secretary-General Li Baodong noted in the report that China's economy has turned around even though economic growth has slowed due to the pandemic. 

China has been able to take swift and effective action to deal with the pandemic.

To lift 832 poverty-stricken through poverty in eight years, 1,500 people have been lifted out of poverty every hour.




 This is a wonderful event. China's success ahead of the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda could play a significant role in alleviating poverty in other parts of the world.
