Why should you use toner & which homemade toner suits you?

However, most of the time, our skin care routine is limited to cleansing and moisturizing. Even after learning about toning, many people do not believe it or avoid it. But this toning is the key to healthy, smooth, tight skin.


The toner cleanses the skin deeply. It provides extra nutrition to the skin and maintains the pH balance of the skin. In addition, it helps to reduce the tendency of acne by narrowing the pores. Toning increases blood circulation to the skin and prevents excess oil secretion. On the other hand, it is also quite beneficial in reducing skin wrinkles. For this, there is no alternative to skin toning.

For oily skin

Glycolic, salicylic acid toner is good for oily skin. These two elements absorb excess oil from the skin. And if you want to shrink the hair follicles, niacinamide-containing toner can be used.

For dry skin

For dry skin, you must choose a toner containing hyaluronic acid, vitamin E and glycerin. These ingredients maintain the moisture of the skin.

For combination skin

Hyaluronic, salicylic or lactic acid rich toners for combination skin and alpha hydroxy or glycolic acid toners for acne prone skin are best. Toner with vitamin E, C, hyaluronic and glycolic acid should be used on sunburned and newly wrinkled skin.

Homemade toner

Toner can be made at home if you want. It doesn't take much for this. You can easily make a toner suitable for your skin with some ingredients that are available at hand.

Green tea 


Green tea is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients. It prevents free radicals. To make green tea toner you need a quarter cup of green tea and three to four drops of tea tree essential oil. Mix the two ingredients together and apply on the face with the help of cotton pad or mist bottle.

Green tea & Pomegranate


The anti-aging toner made with this 'Power Combo' can reduce the damage caused to the skin by the sun. At the same time, it reduces the folds under the eyes, inflammation, redness of the skin and retains the youth of the skin. This toner is made by mixing half a cup of green tea and half a cup of pomegranate  juice together.

Apple cider vinegar


This simple toner can be made by mixing half a cup of apple cider vinegar, half a cup of water and one tablespoon of honey. You can use this acidic toner to absorb excess oil on oily skin and keep the pH balance right.

Rose water

Rose water is quite effective in increasing the moisture of the skin and fixing the pH balance after cleansing. One cup of rose water can be mixed with four teaspoons of lemon juice to make rose water toner. However, if the skin is dry, avoid rose juice and apply only rose water.

Aloe vera


A pair of aloe vera matches the weight to increase skin moisture and retain youth. All you need to make this aloe vera toner is half a cup of aloe vera gel and half a cup of rose water. If the skin is more dry, you can mix it with half a cup of cucumber juice. This toner can be used on all skin except sensitive skin.

Coconut water


Mix three tablespoons of coconut water and half a teaspoon of lemon juice together. Yes, your coconut water toner is ready. If there is a problem of hyperpigmentation on the skin, the use of this toner can be very beneficial.

You can add vitamin E capsules to all toners for extra benefits.

Here are some things to look for when using toner:
  1. Toner should be applied immediately after applying water on the skin.
  2. Use a cotton pad or mist bottle to apply the toner.
  3. Do not wash after applying toner for a while. Wait five to seven minutes and apply moisturizer. Then the purpose of applying toner will be fulfilled.
